Alternative Voices: 1980’s Punk San Francisco

Bay Area Photographer Jeanne Hansen’s “Alternative Voices 1980’s Punk San Francisco” will be on display from 1/10/25 - 3/28/25 at Gallery 6100 at the Foothill College Photography Department, Building 6100, Room 6104. The exhibit is curated by Judy Walgren.

This collection of 26 photographs documents the charged cultural political scene of the underground that made S.F. a fertile center for poetry, art, Punk & New Wave music, performance and political protest, all on the cusp of the emerging HIV/AIDS crisis. Viewed through the lens of young women who was infused with DIY Punk energy, the images represent a unique time and place. 

There will be an Artist Talk (3-4pm) and Reception (4-6pm) with photographer Jeanne Hansen on February 26, 2025 from 3-6pm.
